How we began

A truly exceptional travel agency in Tashkent

Steppe Journeys was founded in Tashkent in 2012 with the goal of building a truly exceptional travel agency for Central Asia. Its founder, Odil Akhmedov, drew on two decades in Central Asian travel and tourism to create a boutique, locally-run company.

What started as a single Silk Road route has grown into a dedicated local team that crafts memorable, personal journeys across every Central Asian country — and we are highly recommended on TripAdvisor and Lonely Planet.

Once your journey is confirmed, Bobur becomes your dedicated partner and guide through the rest of your travel experience. Specializing in our itineraries across the ‘Stans’ outside of Uzbekistan, Bobur manages on-the-ground tour operations while maintaining constant communication with our guests. From the moment your booking is finalized until you return home, he is available around the clock to answer questions, share local insights, and ensure your journey across Central Asia is smooth, safe, and deeply memorable.

Inbound Tour Coordinator (Uzbekistan)

Mohammadjan is the logistical engine behind our journeys within Uzbekistan. Specializing exclusively in local operations, he handles the critical details that make a trip seamless—from booking premium hotels and domestic flight tickets to securing reliable drivers and expert local guides. Mohammed’s dedication extends right to the arrivals gate; he frequently manages airport transfers personally, ensuring our guests receive a warm welcome the moment they land and a smooth departure when they leave.

Operations & Quality Assurance Manager

Khostorbek, is the strategic overseer of our Central Asia tour operations. Managing our dedicated booking and regional coordinators across all five ‘Stans,’ they ensure that every hotel reservation, local guide, and transport log is finalized properly and on schedule. Beyond managing team execution and quality control, Khostorbek provides direct support to our clients, guaranteeing a flawless, stress-free travel experience.
